"On our last day in notoriously overcast southern Patagonia, our tour guide, Rob Noonan, decided we should attempt a hike that would give us incredible views of 10,262-foot (3,128-meter) Cerro Torre and the 11,703-foot (3,567-meter) Fitz Roy Massif—that is, if the clouds parted. While nearing the crest on Loma Del Pliegue Tumbado, the sun prevailed and Cerro Torre appeared. Our normally talkative group sat in awe-struck silence as we ate our lunches. Then we headed back down to celebrate our fortune at the El Bodegón Cerveza Artesanal, a microbrewery in El Chalten." Eric Augustin, 38 Rye, New York DIY: "I traveled with Wilderness Travel [www.wildernesstravel.com] because their itinerary offered the most camping and hiking and enabled me to see the highlights of southern Patagonia, both in Chile and Argentina."
