The 30th annual Mountainfilm in Telluride, held May 23-26 in the scenic Colorado box canyon, will explore worldwide water issues, from misuse to pollution. This year's daylong Moving Mountains Symposium will feature aquatic luminaries such as Sylvia Earle and Alexandra Cousteau. In addition to a host of environmental and human interest films, the festival will screen the best new adventure documentaries.
On the lineup is Last Frontier, a new film by kayaker Trip Jennings, who was one of our 2007 Adventurers of the Year and a National Geographic Young Explorer Grantee. The documentary shows the staging first whitewater kayaking expedition on Papua New Guinea's New Britain, which included the source-to-sea first descent of the Pandi River. This video clip (above), produced for Wild Chronicles, depicts both the risks and rewards of the expedition.
Here, preview of some of this year's Mountainfilm selections.
