Washington, D.C., finally got a blanket of snow that stuck to the ground (pictured in a local park on January 3), courtesy of a storm that swept across the U.S. Midwest and East Coast this week.

The storm dumped anywhere from several inches to over 2 feet (0.6 meter) of snow on cities from Chicago to Boston to the nation's capital. Long Island, New York, and parts of coastal Massachusetts experienced blizzard conditions.
