New Camera: RED Scarlet—The Future of Nature Photography is Here

First, watch this video.

The future of nature photography is here (or will be when this goes to market…sometime later this year). Shot with a 100 mm lens on a newer model of the RED Scarlet, this ultra-sharp, breathtakingly beautiful footage was captured with a camera that will very likely cost less than $3,000 (plus lenses, though, which put you back a pretty penny). The RED is gamechanging in its (relatively) low cost and (ridiculous) clarity—plus the image isn’t flat…it’s dynamic (notice how the back of the iguana is out of focus with the front…most digitals on the market flatten everything and bring it into focus, unlike film). And I don’t even particularly like reptiles.—Ryan Bradley
