Adventures in Travel Expo Hits NYC This Weekend

Adventure travelers of every variety will converge at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City this weekend for the Adventures in Travel Expo 2009, sponsored in part by ADVENTURE magazine. The ATE will feature nearly 200 tour operators and tourism destinations, each providing tantalizing details on what could be your next trip a lifetime, nearby or abroad.

Some of this year's speakers include Lonely Planet co-founder Tony Wheeler, Globe Trekker correspondent Holly Morris, and kayaker-filmmaker Trip Jennings. Don't miss Gregg Treinish and Deia Schlosberg, two of our 2008 Adventurers of the Year, and Zac Sunderland, who, at 17, briefly held the record as the youngest person to sail around the world.

Swing by the Global Beats Stage for cultural performances, from belly dancing to a thai boxing demonstration. Visitors can also climb a rock wall, learn to scuba dive, and zoom across the show floor on an aerial zip line.

Not in NYC this weekend? No worries. Similar expos taking place in major cities across the country, in Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Seattle. For more information, visit the ATE website at http://www.adventureexpo.com.
