Gear Crush: Climber Emily Harrington’s Favorite Piece of Gear for Everest

Southeast Ridge team climber Emily Harrington told us about the piece of gear she’s most excited to bring with her up the mountain—The North Face Himalayan Suit, $999. This suit has 800-fill down and a Gore Windstopper shell. It has pockets everywhere and is The North Face’s most highly researched and tested piece of gear. For Harrington, who spends her time chasing down the hardest sport climbing lines she can find—in warm-weather destinations—climbing a peak like Everest is brand new. And so is the gear. “The Himalayan suit just came in the mail and have been wearing it around the house,” said Harrington, who is now in Nepal. “It’s really hot. It’s red. They had to special-order me an extra-small.”
