“Name Your Dream Assignment” Photo Contest (and $50,000 Prize) Deadline Approaching

You've got until April 3 to make use of that ultimate photography trip you’ve dreamed up during untold hours in the cubicle. Lenovo and Microsoft are sponsoring the “Name Your Dream Assignment” contest, which gives applicants the chance to win $50,000 to go anywhere and shoot anything, plus a video camera and a Lenovo ThinkPad W700ds.

It’s easy: visit the contest website and provide a brief summary, outline of your itinerary, an avatar, and a link to some of your past photos. Professional experience isn’t necessary, but winners must be able to demonstrate they’ve at least held a camera. Beyond that, imagination is king.

Finalists will be determined by fellow photographers, who vote on which ideas they feel to be the most creative and/or or important. Whether it’s capturing the daily lives of the indigenous people in Papua New Guinea, an expedition to Antarctica, or documenting the festivities of Dia de los Muertos, here’s your chance. Your trip can rival a Jules Verne novel in scope, or it can be a walk in the park—the biggest, most grand park, of course. Voting is already underway, so go impress the discussion board soon.
