Video: Surfing the Arctic Circle

Last spring, we followed Ed Viesturs and the Fist Ascent team as they powered their way up Everest (see the photos, videos, and dispatches). Meanwhile, First Ascent was also sponsoring a very different group of trailblazers who were pushing into just as forbidding territory, not in search of summits, but of waves.

This summer, an international group of five world class surfers, including long boarding savant Cyrus Sutton and photographer/cinematographer Yassine Ouhilal, traveled into the Arctic Circle in search of waves that had never been ridden by humans. They ended up in traversing through northern Norway and Russia, roughly along the 68th parallel and getting some of the best arctic circle surf ever caught on film. Check out all the finger numbing, ice-cream headache-inducing exploits right here.
