Geography of adventure

This campaign showcases Slovenia as a unique outdoor adventure destination. Its compact yet varied geography means that locals and visitors alike are able to enjoy a range of outdoor sports—from the gentle to the extreme. To discover what makes Slovenia so unique, we explore three unique angles: We examine Slovenia’s Landscapes of Adventure and why its rich geography makes for such diverse outdoor playgrounds. We explore how the mountains, rivers, lakes, and forest trails allow you to Immerse Yourself in Slovenia. We looked at how these natural wonders form the kind of adventurous experiences found nowhere else. Lastly, we delve into stories of how the landscapes have inspired the Slovenian view of ‘Life in Nature’—immersing oneself into these natural surroundings while ensuring they remain protected.

The Brief

The campaign needed to raise awareness of Slovenia as a green, active, and healthy destination by presenting it as a place that offers truly unique outdoor experiences—ones that provide a mind and body connection with Slovenia’s lush green nature, while protecting it at the same time.

Solution

National Geographic CreativeWorks captured Slovenia’s unique outdoor adventure through the eyes of individuals who represent an active lifestyle.

Custom shoots across winter and summer captured footage for our hero story, showcasing the incredible landscapes of Slovenia and the plethora of outdoor sports they make possible.

Hero assets included a video for YouTube, an Instagram Story on the @natgeotravel account, and article, listicle, and a photo gallery by National Geographic Adventure photographer Corey Rich who also led the video production.

All content is hosted on a new campaign hub on National Geographic and localized versions across five key markets—plus selected content from the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns.
