Journey through time

The untold ancient stories and unmatched natural beauty of AlUla are brought to life through a wide range of National Geographic touchpoints in a multi-year collaboration.

THE BRIEF

Many people may not be familiar with the ancient Northern Arabian Kingdoms. And yet the importance and enduring legacy of the Dadanite, Lihyanite and Nabataean Civilizations within the greater context of other more famous ancient civilizations cannot be overstated. Leveraging the power and scope of National Geographic storytelling, we set out to highlight this fascinating period in human history.
Alongside this fascinating look into the history of AlUla, we also weave in stories from today – how traditional arts can benefit today’s communities; or how this rich and ancient culture inspires the world’s most iconic architects and artists to create their greatest works. And looking to the future we discover a global mission to save the Arabian Leopard from extinction; and how nature reserves are safeguarding AlUla’s flora and fauna, and transforming the lives of the rangers at the frontlines of this crucial work.

THE SOLUTION

Our campaign strategy across the multi-year partnership has three major objectives:
  • Educate the National Geographic audience on what and where AlUla is
  • Engage a travel mindset inspired by the region’s rich stories
  • Drive consideration to experience this destination for yourself
This is being achieved through a series of touchpoints and content pieces across linear, digital, social, and print touching on three main content pillars – Heritage, Nature and Art.
