'National Geographic' Nominated for Magazine of the Year

The magazine was also nominated for best photography and best single issue in this year's National Magazine Awards.

The other nominees for magazine of the year—considered the most prestigious of the awards—include The Atlantic, The Hollywood Reporter, New York, and The New Yorker. Vogue won that award last year.

The annual National Magazine Awards are the premier awards for magazine journalism and are administered by the American Society of Magazine Editors in association with the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Winners will be announced in New York on February 1, at an event that marks the 50th anniversary of the awards.
