September 4, 2026 | Walking the Line

Highliner Gabriel Camolesi rides a unicycle along a tightrope in New South Wales, Australia, with a full moon in the backdrop in this photograph from National Geographic's "How I Got the Shot" series. The image took photographer Aidan Williams seven years to capture due to constant planning and failed attempts. The combination of timing, landscape, weather, and lunar cycles—all of which may only align for a few seconds at a time—was needed to snap the breathtaking moment.
