Thorben Danke used ultraviolet-induced visible fluorescence photography to make this image of a wild bee's eye, which is surrounded by tiny hairs. Landmark scientific research published in 1969 found that insect eyes contain fluorescent particles that absorb UV wavelengths and reemit them as visible light. "A quiet reminder that nature still holds surprises when we look at it through a different spectrum," Danke wrote on Instagram.
