Black Trevally and Sardines

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

A black trevally letting the sardines get used to it before attacking them unexpectedly

(This photo and caption were submitted to My Shot.)

What Makes This a Photo of the Day? While I typically associate underwater photography with vivid colors, I have come to really appreciate scenes done in black and white. The contrast allows me to focus on the arc of the silvery sardines as the black trevally closes in. —Alexa Keefe, Photo of the Day editor
