Chinese Opera Troupe

This Month in Photo of the Day: Travel and Adventure Photos

This Chinese opera troupe spends half of the year traveling from town to town, putting on a traditional performance that's been handed down for centuries. They perform in a temporary theater made of bamboo, and at night they retire to the crawl spaces under the stage. The performance backstage at times was much more fascinating. Everything was done in the traditional way, which made the electric light and fan seems just a tad out of time and place.
