"On the north side of the Big Island of Hawaii, climbing a tree starts with climbing a cascade of roots," says Your Shot photographer Rochelle Potter. "Banyan trees are characterized by aerial prop roots that eventually grow into woody trunks that help to support the wide spread of branches above."
