Hippo Pool, Tanzania

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos

It was nap time at this hippo pool in Tanzania in July 2008. The jumble of large gray bodies punctuated by pink eyes and ears made for a compelling image. The hippos seemed content to nuzzle alongside one another. Most of them appeared to be snoozing contentedly despite the utter lack of privacy or personal space.
