This Month in Photo of the Day: Nature and Weather Photos
Brilliant day for a hike on the Arctic tundra, surprisingly alive with flora, as well as reindeer and arctic fox. It seems the mountains make their own weather on Svalbard, or at least cloud formations—this one no exception.
(This photo and caption were submitted to the 2011 National Geographic Expeditions Photo Contest. The grand prize winner snapped the shot while traveling on the Land of the Polar Bears expedition.)
