Portrait of a Pony

In Virginia's Grayson Highlands State Park, a herd of wild ponies roams free. Visitors to the park, which provides access to the Appalachian Trail, are forbidden from touching or approaching the ponies. Once a year, a local association rounds up the ponies to assess their health, using salt licks instead of lassoes to lure them in.
