This pile of textiles in Zahedan, a city in Iran near its borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, is a normal sight at bazaars across the country. Iran's textile industry goes back centuries, and is known for producing colorful fabrics like silk, cashmere, velvet, and suede. Many of these textiles also feature embroidery styles that differ from region to region.
