Every day, we feature an image chosen from thousands submitted to our photo community, Your Shot. Here are some of the month's highlights.

“One side effect of working at Your Shot is having constant feelings of wanderlust,” my colleague associate photo editor Kristen McNicholas recently remarked.

Photo of Day took us around the world last month. From high above the salty red waters of Senegal's Lake Retba to below the seas off Baja California swimming with whales. One day we're on the historic sidewalks of Florence, Italy watching a chalk artist; the next morning we're inside an old tea house in Chengdu, China.

Check back everyday to see which destination the photographers of Your Shot will show us next.

Francis Rivera produces Photo of the Day, a curated look at photography from National Geographic’s photo community, Your Shot . Melody Rowell writes and researches the captions. Submit your photos and you could be published online or in our magazines. See the highlights from previous months here.
