Inn Guests Rescued by Boat
Typhoon Man-yi struck central Japan on Monday, prompting some 500,000 to evacuate from Kyoto and nearby prefectures. At least two people have died and more are missing in the storm, according to the Japan Times.
Here, inn guests are rescued in a boat pulled along a flooded road in the aftermath of the storm.
The typhoon, a tropical cyclone, struck western Japan at the start of the workday. The storm roared across Japan's main island and by nighttime had turned into a tropical storm off the country's east coast, near the northern island of Hokkaido.
The typhoon dropped torrential rain over much of Japan.
