3QD: On to Round 2!

I’m proud to say that my post – “The Pelican’s Beak” – has made it to round two of the 3 Quarks Daily science writing contest. Many thanks to everyone who voted for my essay!

Whether or not the post goes on to compete for the top prize is now up to the 3QD editors, but I’m glad that my essay made it past the first hurdle. Congratulations to all the other semi-finalists, too. Many are friends and all are excellent writers. The competition for the top three spots is going to be tough!
