Everything to Know About West Palm Beach
Here's how to plan the best possible trip to this sunny paradise.
Well-removed from its bustling sister cities to the south, West Palm Beach is relaxed, yet with a level of sophistication that sets itself apart from neighboring beach towns to the north.
When to Go
When the weather cools in the north, snowbirds begin their migration south to West Palm Beach. In the fall, winter, and spring, visitors will most likely enjoy cool temperatures (for Florida), yet warmer than many other parts of the United States, along with sunny skies. The summer months bring the heat and humidity that Florida’s known for—fortunately, air-conditioning is abundant here.
Celebrate
Many of the big events in West Palm Beach fall during the cooler months, but that’s not to say that celebrations aren’t held year-round. A few to consider traveling here for are the Spring Training games of the Houston Astros and Washington Nationals; the three-day SunFest, Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival; and 17 days of family-friendly fun at the South Florida Fair.
What to Eat/Drink
If you’re visiting a destination named for its once abundant coconut production, one thing you have to sip is fresh coconut water. Make it an adult beverage by adding a bit of local Island Company Rum for a refreshing drink on a sunny Florida day.
Souvenir to Take Home
Rather than buying a souvenir to remember your time in West Palm Beach, why not make your own? Shoppe 561 offers soap making, pottery, and sign painting classes so you can personalize your memento.

Sustainable Travel Tip
Leave the car behind and get around West Palm Beach by trolley. The free Downtown West Palm Beach Trolley Service runs three routes seven days a week, picking up passengers at designated stops every 10 to 15 minutes.
Instagram-Worthy View
The Palm Beaches launched Florida’s first fully interactive Selfie Trail a few years ago, highlighting top Instagram-worthy spots throughout the county. One not to miss in West Palm Beach is the hyper-vibrant Einstein CANVAS Mural. Of course, there’s the classic sun, sand, and sea Insta-shot at the beach, too.
