#FriFotos: Two of a Kind

This week’s #FriFotos theme is TWO in honor of the weekly Twitter chat’s second anniversary! Congratulations to #FriFotos for staying strong and coming up with fun, new themes for us to explore on the blog each week.

We chose this photograph of an extremely rare albino alligator that Jak Wonderly submitted to our My Shot community (thanks, Jak!). Because of their sensitivity to light and lack of natural camouflage (albinos are born without melanin pigment in the eyes and skin), these reptiles don’t have good odds of surviving in the wild and are often brought into captivity.

Owing to the unique challenges they face, there are fewer than 100 left. But legend has it that these extraordinary creatures are symbols of good luck. So here’s to #FriFotos! May it live long and prosper — and give us a weekly reminder of just how neat this world of ours is.

#FriFotos is a weekly themed Twitter chat founded by @EpsteinTravels, @TravelDesigned, and @CharlesYap where travelers share their favorite pics. Search #FriFotos on Twitter to see what other folks submitted or tweet one of your own.
