Winter in Northern Michigan carries a magic all its own. Snow‑covered forests, powdery slopes, and bustling resort towns come together to create an atmosphere that feels both peaceful and full of possibility. This is a place where winter adventures and time‑honored traditions meet cozy charm and stunning natural beauty. It’s Michigan winter at its best—exciting, inviting, and filled with the simple joy that only a perfect snow day can bring.

This year, as Pure Michigan celebrates its 20th Anniversary, a trio of inspiring storytellers were tasked with reimagining the iconic commercials that helped define the Great Lakes State and capture its spirit through the seasons.

“The original spot [Snow Day] is really rooted in the sentimental and the beautiful. Ultimately, I wanted it to feel like an invitation. There’s so much to discover here.” — Aaron Jones

For winter, director and filmmaker Aaron Jones set out to show the world what makes this Michigan a true winter wonderland. A proud Michigander who grew up inspired by the original Pure Michigan campaign, he saw the chance to reimagine the beloved spot titled Snow Day as a full‑circle moment—honoring the past while showcasing the beauty of winter in Northern Michigan for a new generation. Discover the places he explored, and watch the film that captures the magic of the season at its best.
