Recap: TNI Travel Photography

Last Thursday we hosted Travelers’ Night In and spent 90 high-intensity minutes swapping stories and tips about travel photography. We received fantastic responses to our questions, and many of you tweeted links to your favorite travel photos. We encourage you to enter those great travel shots in our 2011 Traveler Photo Contest. We’ve already received some amazing submissions, like the road trip photo above, submitted by Anna Ryan.

Did you miss last week’s TNI? Here’s a recap of some of our favorite TNI answers, and you can join in on the fun this Thursday with an all-new topic: Innovative Travel.

Q1. Most memorable travel experience captured in a photo?
@WheresAndrew: Standing in the middle of 120,000 penguins: http://ow.ly/i/amXe

Q2. Do you always carry a camera when you travel? If so, favorite camera/accessory?
@FrankDiCesare: Yes. I never travel without my camera or my Joby Gorillapod.

Q3. How do you share travel photos with friends? While on the road or back at home?
Most of you said Facebook, Flickr, and other online sharing sites, but our research apprentice Meghan Miner had this fun idea to share:
@megminer: A slideshow presentation night with popcorn when I get back.

Q4. Dream destination(s) to photograph? Why?
@NevadaWier: Back to Iceland. So extreme, yet culture and subtle color.
@DonNadeau: The deep South of the USA. Seems so mystical…or is that just the humidity?
@NGSTravelEditor: India. Richest, most phantasmagorical panorama of eye-filling scenes in world

Q5. Favorite landmark/site/location to photograph? Show us a pic!
@Norticprincess: Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Always equals summer for me http://twitpic.com/4kupti
@EllieTr: Notre Dame Cathedral. Gorgeous from any angle.

Q6. Biggest camera/photography mistake you’ve made while traveling?
@FamilyonBikes: Too busy pedaling to bother with the camera. Missed great shots!
@hello_photo: Left my lens cap off on Bastille Day in Paris! Got caught up in the crowd & my lens ended up getting totally destroyed

@SeaFox4 One of my favs from Tanzania. Sun coming up behind Kili from Meru. Above the clouds. http://yfrog.com/hsjx9bp
