Strange Planet: Wormcharming Festival

This spring, most everyone in England has been riveted by the Royal Wedding. But May also inaugurates the “silly season” in the U.K., when a variety of other wacky, offbeat, and definitely not-royal celebrations take place. Traveler contributing editor and photographer Bob Krist is vacationing and visiting relatives in the southwest, and although he didn’t snag an invite to the royal nuptials, he has managed to catch a few other celebrations, like this one, which involves charming earthworms out of the ground….dirty business, but all for a good cause!
