Strange Planet: Berlin’s Nhow Hotel

It sits in an industrial area along the river Spree between the Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg districts in Berlin, and from the outside the hotel looks pretty much like its neighbors. Until you reach the 8th to the 10th floors, which suddenly jut out almost 70 feet above the street. The recently opened Nhow Berlin hotel pushes the envelope inside as well, with its neon decor, oversized metal sculptures and a state-of-the-art recording studio designed for visiting professional musicians.

But you don’t have to be a pro to spend the night at Nhow Berlin, which bills itself as Europe’s first music hotel. Even amateurs can order up a Gibson (the guitar, not the cocktail) from room service.
