The Radar: Skyscraper Threatens City’s World Heritage Status, Puerto Rico’s Underground Caves, New National Monument

• Current construction of a new skyscraper is threatening the World Heritage status of the historic Spanish city of Seville. A UNESCO delegation went to investigate the building site and expressed concern that the new structure will detract from the city’s cathedral, royal palace, and other historic buildings. [Tour Expi]

• Visitors to Puerto Rico can explore a network of more than 220 underground caves, spanning 286 acres below ground. The Cavernas del Rio Camuy is said to be the third largest cave network in the world. [BBC]

• President Obama invoked the Antiquities Act to officially designate Fort Monroe, in Hampton, Virginia, as a national monument. Fort Monroe is the 396th park in the U.S. system. [Gadling]
