We Heart Our Interns
Each semester Traveler welcomes a group of eager interns to our Washington, D.C., office. They come from universities and colleges far and near for no pay–just academic credit and the experience of working here.
“There’s something out of the ordinary going on everyday here, whether it’s hearing an explorer give a talk about their newest project, seeing part of an African Diaspora film series, or running into someone famous in line in the cafeteria,” said Kate McCormack, a summer Web intern. “I’ve gotten the chance to try my hand at a ton of different things while here. It’s a lot of work, but it’s all so interesting I find myself thinking about ideas and trips to take even when I’ve gone home at night.”
“It was an excellent mix of long- and short-term projects, and I was able to tailor my experience to match my interests,” adds Web design intern Sarah Aldrich. “It has been amazing; I am leaving with fabulous additions to my portfolio and firsthand knowledge of the industry.”
