THE BRIEF

With so much to discover, we sent three celebrated and uniquely individual National Geographic photographers on assignment to capture images of the places, people and moments that touched them when visiting Canada at three very different times of year. Their only brief was to “Capture the Open spirit of Canada through a collection of incredible images”.

Dividing the year up into three key seasons - Season of Bounty, Season of Twilight and Season of Wonder - and allocating a different National Geographic photographer to each, they were able to immerse themselves in everything Canada’s openness has to offer.

SOLUTION

Matthieu Paley explored The Season of Bounty. As a lover of local flavors, responsible food sourcing, adventure and fascinating cultures, Matthieu found everything in Québec and The Maritimes–New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Kiliii Yüyan explored The Season of Twilight. Snow-covered Western Alberta and British Columbia, is where Kiliii found magic, beauty and a sense of connection, leading to a unique set of images.

Ami Vitale explored The Season of Wonder during her time in the Yukon and Northwest Territories where she captured the wonderous beauty of the diverse landscapes and their people.
