Oceans Tomorrow

National Geographic CreativeWorks worked together with Swire TrustTomorrow on a 360 marketing and promotional campaign to explore the incredible world that lies beneath Hong Kong's waves, examining the various factors that threaten its health and existence, and identifying the actions we must take to preserve it for future generations.

THE BRIEF

Throughout its history, Hong Kong has been shaped by its relationship with the sea, from its origins as a collection of fishing villages, to its longstanding role as one of the world's largest and most important ports and trade centers, to the many natural wonders found in and around the territory's richly biodiverse waters. Centuries of human activity, however, have come at a price, and Hong Kong's marine ecosystem is at a critical juncture today.

The client was keen to showcase the unique biodiversity of Hong Kong oceans and drive engagement between people in Hong Kong and their stewardship of the sea through inspiring content connecting National Geographic explorers with Hong Kong youth.

SOLUTION

Our key objective was to create inspiring content to drive awareness and engagement and hence, inspire positive action towards the protection of the Hong Kong oceans. We created an explorer-led video series that helped to heighten the awareness of the importance of corals, the education of sustainable seafood and how people are protecting Hong Kong’s oceans. A series of infographic videos were also produced to highlight important facts on the Hong Kong waters. Content series in article formats on National Geographic provided more information on the understanding of the Hong Kong oceans.  All content was amplified across National Geographic digital and social platforms driving over 73M impression with over 32M+ reach. The Oceans Tomorrow campaign has been awarded as an Honoree in the 27th Annual Webby awards in the Advertising, Media and PR Public Service and Activism Category.
