Winds of Change
As the world considers ways to lessen the environmental impact of our biggest machines, shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) is pioneering a new energy saving technology with its Wind Challenger project. Our campaign focused on how we make our relied on “megastructures” more efficient, bringing in MOL as a highlighted figure in this effort.

THE BRIEF
MOL wanted to work with National Geographic to highlight their new wind-capturing sail and its application in increasing fuel efficiency of its ships — joining a global effort in lessening the environmental impact of the large-scale machines we rely on to exist.

THE SOLUTION
We developed a storytelling campaign unpacking Wind Challenger as a scalable solution for more sustainable shipping. The campaign included an article and a digital gallery featuring custom photography shot by a National Geographic photographer, capturing the building and installation process of the sail. Focusing on Wind Challenger as a core innovation, the content demonstrated how wind energy can help to reduce fuel use and emissions while integrating into modern shipping operations.
