First Week in Sochi: Photos Captured by Your Shot Members

Photos from the first week in Sochi by National Geographic's Your Shot users.

The Winter Olympics are finally in full swing. Athletes are knee-deep in competition, local hotels have ironed out the kinks, and the media have turned their attention to the warm weather.

Temperatures this week were above freezing, averaging in the mid-50s (around 12°C) in the subtropical resort town, turning some snow slushy and provoking complaints from some athletes. (Read related: "Slushy Sochi: Warm Weather Shows Challenges of Subtropical Snowmaking.")

Temperatures are expected to fall this weekend, potentially firming the slopes and improving conditions for week two.
