Instants: Scaling New Heights

In our new series “Instants,” the Proof staff brings you a snapshot of recent dispatches from the @natgeo Instagram feed. Follow us to experience more from National Geographic on Instagram.

Take just one look at photographer Jimmy Chin’s Instagram feed and it’s hard not to be jealous of his adventures. He’s a rock climber, photographer and filmmaker who loves to push the envelope. Chin takes us to places most of us will never be able go, simply because of our own physical limitations. One second he’s on the side of Yosemite’s El Capitan, the next he’s soaring over New York city.

Watch this great video where Chin describes what drives him to stretch his own personal limits.

Night flight over Gotham.

Found some magical spots in South Africa. If you’re searching for big game, this is a pretty good spot to do it. Not a bad place to sleep either.

A recent commercial shoot in Yosemite.

Exclusive access at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

A fun lap on Half Dome in Yosemite a couple weeks ago.
