Zion National Park
One of the most photographed views in Zion National Park, and perhaps all of the parks, is the view of the Watchman from the Canyon Junction Bridge. Although it has been shot endless times, and you are sure to be shoulder to shoulder with other photographers during sunset, it is still something everyone must do when visiting the park. My favorite spot is right at the center of the bridge where the river leads the eye to the Watchman in the background.
Photographer Jonathan Irish embarked on an ambitious quest to visit every U.S. national park in 52 weeks in honor the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary in 2016.
“[National parks] are sacred and cherished places—our greatest personal and national treasures,” says Irish. “It’s a gift to spend a year adventuring and capturing incredible images and stories in some of the most beautiful places on Earth.”
Since Irish’s 13-month journey through 59 national parks, the National Parks Service designated two additional parks to the system—Gateway Arch and Indiana Dunes National Parks—bringing the total to 61. From the crystalline waters of Dry Tortugas to the deep, dark recesses of Carlsbad Caverns, discover America’s natural wonders.
